In 2010 the V&A staged an exhibition of British quilts. It was a great success and some amazing quilts with fascinating stories were on show. One of my favourites incorporated a panel of Caroline of Brunswick and it was enjoyable imagining the story of the quilter and her relationship with the ill-treated queen (you can read more about the quilt here).
Another pleasure of the exhibition was the wide variety of prints used by the quilters and how fabrics hundreds of years old could look surprisingly modern.
To accompany the exhibition the V&A brought out a collection of reproduction fabrics. Below is a quilt I made some years ago using two 19th-century prints from the range.
