I haven’t been doing much quilting recently, mainly because my current project hasn’t been filling me with much enthusiasm.
So I decided to put it on hold for a while and start something new, a pattern by Elizabeth Hartman called Fancy Forest. Here is the first block, which I thoroughly enjoyed making.
I had the idea for this quilt whilst walking along Broad Street in Oxford one crisp sunny morning. Although it looks fairly complicated it came together very quickly. I made the blocks by stacking three fabrics together cutting diagonal lines across them and then resewing so each block consisted of three different fabrics.
The solids are from a range by Art Gallery fabrics called Pure Elements. These are really crisp fine fabrics which were lovely to sew with. The backing print is by Cotton + Steel which I bought on sale with no particular project in mind. It’s just right for this quilt.
